Election 2008 Update: Who is the New Judge?

Thursday November 13, 2008

Back on Saturday I wrote about the very close election in my county for the new circuit court judge. On Monday I learned that after a machine recount, the candidates were at a dead tie, and stories were then circulated about how the tie would be broken - both flipping a coin and drawing a name out of a hat were mentioned. My paralegal even told me about an election she knew about in New Mexico that was actually decided by a poker game!

Well, yesterday I learned that after a second manual recount, Tegan Slaton was declared the official winner by a margin of only four votes. Congratulations Tegan, and yes, I'm now thoroughly convinced that every vote does count.
