Tomorrow #AgChat, a weekly moderated conversation on Twitter for people in the business of raising food, feed, fuel, and fiber, will sponsor an online discussion about estate taxes and how they have impacted farming and ranching families.
A probable topic of discussion will be H.R. 3524, which is a bill introduced by Mike Thompson (D-CA) and John Salazar (D-CO) on July 31, 2009, and is commonly known as the Family Farm Preservation and Conservation Estate Tax Act. The purpose of the bill is to exclude the value of property used by a deceased person and the deceased person's family as a farm and certain qualified conservation easements from the federal estate tax.
AgChats take place every Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern time, and the moderator of tomorrow's discussion will be California dairy farmer Ray Prock, Jr., an active Twitter user who has a large number of followers. Twitter members can participate in the live discussion by logging on to www.tweetchat.com/room/agchat, and non-Twitter members can monitor the live discussion on twubs.com/agchat.
