As long as you're mentally compentent, you can change, modify, update, or completely revoke your Last Will and Testament at any time. But how do you make changes to your Last Will that will be legally valid? The key is to determine if your changes are considered small or big ones.

Codicils vs. New Last Wills

In order to make changes to your Last Will and Testament, you'll need to do one of two things:

  1. For small changes, sign a Codicil that's valid under applicable state law; or
  2. For big changes or a series of small changes, sign a completely new Last Will and Testament that's valid under applicable state law.
